Lace a Heart is a community development association rooted in Uganda, dedicated to upholding the dignity and rights of every child through practical, compassionate action.
How It Began
Our Story
Lace a Heart was born from a simple but powerful observation: thousands of children across Uganda walk barefoot every day — to school, to the market, to church — not by choice, but because their families cannot afford shoes. Without shoes, children are exposed to soil-transmitted diseases, injuries, and the quiet shame that comes from feeling different.
What began as a small community shoe drive in Kampala has grown into a registered Community Development Association operating across 8 districts. We have partnered with churches, NGOs, schools, and international organizations to reach over 3,500 children with shoe donations and wraparound community programs.
But we have always believed that a pair of shoes is more than footwear. It is a message to a child that they are seen, that they matter, and that their community stands behind them.

Manages relationships with international donors, partner organizations, and volunteer networks to sustain and grow our impact.
Field Operations Lead
